Girls of Integrity began four years ago through the desire of some women to see a conference in the Evansville, IN tri-state area where teen girls can go and learn about their identity in Christ.
Summer Harrison, High School Girls Director at Christian Fellowship Church, started the conference with the vision that area churches would partner together to put on this event for teen girls.
As church leaders, and as women, we have seen and know how hard it is to be a teenager in today’s society. Our purpose is to come together and help teen girls by breaking down the generation gap, sharing our experiences and testimonies, encouraging and loving these girls, and most importantly; sharing the Truth of who we are in Christ Jesus. And we do all of this in the best way… the way God designed us; as girls being girls!
In order to be a young woman of integrity, you must know where your acceptance, security, and significance lie. If you look around in your school, community, and even in your church, you will find many girls who are searching to find out who they are. In a society where looks, status, and personal achievement determine one’s values, we need to look to our Heavenly Father and focus on His truths so we do not get discouraged.
To be a young woman of integrity, you need to realize that you are accepted in Jesus Christ and should strive to have integrity and honor in all your relationships. A young woman of integrity is one who knows not only who she is, but whose she is, and that gives her the security she needs.
My thoughts on this: While I FULLY believe that all young ladies should learn these things at home, I also know, through working with families of distress that all families don’t live as we do, as homeschoolers do. Young girls are more and more becoming accustomed to life outside of the Christ-centered realm. I think it’s wonderful that conferences like this do take place and help young ladies to learn more about Christ and who they belong to. I am a Youth Leader of 4 ladies in my church and even though some may not agree with it; I thank God everyday that I am there for some of the girls to be a lead-her that they need in their lives. I do not feel like I am taking the place of what a mother or father should be in these girls lives, however, I do give them love, nurturing, and guidance into God’s word.
Have a blessed day~
