A Daily Reminder

The Lord has placed special gifts and talents within each of us and has given every believer the promise that they can accomplish great things throughout their life. We are to recognize how special we are and know that in each of us is instilled an unfulfilled destiny that is waiting to take shape and accomplish that which God Almighty has intended. If you are feeling discouraged because you think you have nothing special to offer this world, be encouraged and know that God has great things instilled within your spirit that has yet to be realized and accomplished. Recognize that you are special and have many gifts within you that need to get out of your heart and into this world where you can make a positive impact on humanity.

For I know the thoughts I think towards you, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then shall ye call upon me and ye shall go and pray unto me and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.(Jeremiah 29:11-13)

And the Lord answered me and said, Write the vision and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it, because it will surely come, it will not tarry. (Habakkuk 2:2-3)

Curriculum Ideas~

Hello again!

To think I was worried about writer’s block and now I’ve posted about 6 comments on different sites and this is my second post on my site tonight.  I’ve noticed that some of the blogs I generally read are busy at work planning for the next school, as am I.

I am big on saving money and being frugal on my spending with books.  I’m actually going to mostly pdf files for curriculum next year.  One of the BEST sites I’ve found for Math is one that I remember from years ago and that is  Math Mammoth.
I would love to own the  Multiplication/Division Worksheets materials and the materials for Decimals Worksheets, and  Integers I cannot praise the writer of this program enough for all the hard work and the concepts she has put into these ebooks.  I love, love, love the printable worksheets and using the CD with them makes it so much easier than having to keep up with hardcover, heavy books!  I’ve just ordered this program and received it within a week’s time, that’s fantastic since I like to go through the program personally before attempting to teach it to my daughter~  My daughter has learning disabilities and Math Mammoth can very easily accomodate all those needs for her style of learning.  We are slowly venturing outside of whole numbers and I’ll need to get the books or pdf ebooks before too long onDecimals and Integers.  These can go on my wish list.  I placed links to all the pages under my LINKS category on the right side of my page.

Now for another great curriculum suggestion my friend westward on HSB had a site listed on her blog for copywork and while visiting it I have absolutely fallen in love with the History Scribe site.  History Scribe
History Scholar for High Schoolers
From my understanding of it the latter is for grades 9 and up.  I WILL be ordering this series, also pdf for my soon to be 8th grader.  I love the whole thing…the ideas, the concepts, and the worksheets that are easily printed in black and white from any computer with Adobe Acrobat Reader on it.

What’s next…Oh yes!!!  Ladies, and Gents, out there if you have teens and want to do a very nicely written 9-week Bible study with them or just a daily study for them to do alone then you have to check out Rebecca Ingram Powell on her site with her newest books.  These are for girls and guys that are between grades 6 and 9 because there are sensitive issues involved in the text….good and educational issues, but too sensitive for younger children.  Don’t worry, they’ll be teens one day too!!!  YIPPPEEE so they’ll learn all about these things too.  Here is Rebecca’s site and she may still have the contest going for a free book…my daughter won her copy of the book, even if she doesn’t have it going the books are not very costly at all~ so, go to this site,  Rebecca Ingram Powell.  rebeccapowell.com

Next on the list, I have my English and Vocabulary books for next year.  My daughter excels in those subjects and will be using a lower level college text for both subjects.  One is Sentence Essentials and the other is just titled Vocabulary  something….I’ll have to find those on a site and post them later.

As for a reading program we just do ordinary Library books for Reading and I usually use the Library listing of books for her age level…no sense paying tons of money for books that she can borrow and return.  Kelsey also does reports on her books that she has to read and she blogs on HSB for writing and for fun.

I’ve worked extremely hard on finding the right studies for our style of learning…pretty eclectic I’d say.  We will be doing some notebooking/lapbooking within our History/Civics studies and also with the some scrapbooking on her summer activities and travels will be an addition to her curriculum.  My daughter is not artfully inclined but she WILL be doing some sort of art/crafts this new year.    One more interesting note, one that I’m very proud of….Kelsey will be doing an internship this summer for a lady down our road who raises, breeds, and shows Gotland Horses.  She is going to teach Kelsey how to groom her Show Horses and teach her some about taking care of sheep and shearing.  I think it’s going to be a great experience for Kelsey and she is such an animal lover~  Leslie’s website is listed at  Kokovoko for any interested parties…Leslie also raises sheep for wool, meat, and pelts and used to do spinning and weaving; now she only sells needed supplies for individuals or businesses.

Hope you find some of my suggestions helpful and maybe you’ll agree with my choices and be placing those orders ahead of the game for the next year.  I’m so excited and love getting those new materials in.  Have a GREAT day and Happy Spring if I’ve not posted again before then~

Nancy
