A Daily Reminder

The Lord has placed special gifts and talents within each of us and has given every believer the promise that they can accomplish great things throughout their life. We are to recognize how special we are and know that in each of us is instilled an unfulfilled destiny that is waiting to take shape and accomplish that which God Almighty has intended. If you are feeling discouraged because you think you have nothing special to offer this world, be encouraged and know that God has great things instilled within your spirit that has yet to be realized and accomplished. Recognize that you are special and have many gifts within you that need to get out of your heart and into this world where you can make a positive impact on humanity.

For I know the thoughts I think towards you, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then shall ye call upon me and ye shall go and pray unto me and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.(Jeremiah 29:11-13)

And the Lord answered me and said, Write the vision and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it, because it will surely come, it will not tarry. (Habakkuk 2:2-3)

BFS #131 – Trusted Everywhere (Duracell)

Memory Verse: Genesis 20:13 and it came about, when God caused me to wander from my father’s house, that I said to her, ‘This is the kindness which you will show to me: everywhere we go, say of me, “He is my brother.’””

Introduction: Trusted Everywhere (Duracell Batteries) Easy Week. It was supposed to be Nancy’s week, she had planned on posting a simple assignment, but she’s gone, and her assignment isn’t here. So.. Because Nancy is traveling, I thought we’d talk about Everywhere, or Anywhere.

Assignment: Where have you been?  Where have you traveled?  What was the purpose of your trip?

Here’s mine:

Thank you Sombra for covering for me!  You’re the BEST!!!  For my assignment I wanted to write about some of my childhood travels.  Our lives outside of school were like a living field trip when I was growing up.  My father was in the Marines for 30 years and we traveled because of his work.   After his retirement and we thought we’d finally be able to settle down but he was feeling the call to preach, so he went to Theological Seminary school and we traveled just as much then.  Even throughout the years of being transferred from one town or state to another our family loved to travel.

I remember the biggest and longest trip we went on.  We traveled from Beaufort, SC to Nova Scotia, Canada.  Another family traveled with us so we had tailgated along the way. I don’t remember that trip ever feeling like it was uncomfortable to be in the car for all those long hours.  I remember it being days that we traveled because we stopped along the way.  We went to the Washington DC zoo and I remember riding on one of those giant turtles…that’s funny that I remember that because I was always so afraid of doing anything new. Fear never stopped me much back then and I would guess that’s because I had a lot of encouragement from my brothers and sisters and my parents.  After leaving we drove to NYC and went through the Lincoln Tunnel.  I don’t remember if that was the first tunnel I had ever gone through or not, but it’s highly doubtful.  I remember all the cars around us and their horns blowing for the entire length of the tunnel…something we still do!  After leaving NYC we drove up to Maine and from their boarded a ferry boat called the Blue Noser.  It was an 8-10 hour ride and all the kids LOVED every minute of it!~  We had lots of fun laughing at everyone puking on the tail end of the boat…just running and telling my mom about it got her started too.  That ferry ride was probably the most fun I’ve ever had in my life and I’d love to do it again with my daughters, grandchildren and husband and son-in-law.

Once we got to Nova Scotia, I don’t have a clue who it was we stayed with but we sure had fun!  We climbed the cliffs on the edge of the ocean and visited some prison for some really strange reason!  Remember the movie Scared Straight, well I was only 9 and much too frail to have ever gone against my parents wishes, but that’s what it felt like.  I had really long hair and one of the prisoners kept trying to grab my hair. My sisters and I often wonder what in the world made our dad take us into a place like that.  I remember eating lots of lobster, shrimp and crab during the month we were there.

I could go on forever about that trip.  It was the best time of my life and I’m trying really hard to create the same loving and warm memories for my daughters.  I don’t have pictures…sorry.  Have a blessed weekend~

  • Hi, Nancy!
Hope you’re having a great trip. I loved hearing about your vacations as a child. Funny, I don’t remember the bad things about trips when I was little either. The memory is such a funny thing!

Have a blessed weekend making memories with your family!!!

  • Oh! Almost forgot — I love the new look. The iris caught my attention; it flows perfectly with the rest of the site, but I like the changing header, too. I’ve thought about doing that, but I lack the time and the motivation! ;^)

    Blessings, sister!

  • I am soooo loving your new blog! It has been awhile since I have been here. It is PERFECT! :D

    Blessings~
