Nashville –
It’s been a week since Kelsey and I returned home from our trip to Nashville. We were helping Cyndi Kinney at the convention and at a seminar afterwards in Memphis! It was truly a great experience and gave me the time to learn more about her family’s products and watch as she presented them during the seminar. I loved the fair in Nashville! It was so much fun getting to meet other moms and dads that homeschool their children. It was very easy to talk about Cyndi’s products not only because I believe they are wonderful, but also because I love the presence and recognition they bring to almost any style of homeschooling and any grade. We were also very busy almost the entire time we were there. I think there may have been about 3 hours of time that we weren’t very busy at all.
Plans for our 10th grade year -
After three years of homeschooling I finally feel like I’m getting all my ducks in a row and comfortable with what needs to be done. It was nice to spend time with Cyndi and talking with her about learning styles. I finally have peace in knowing that my daughter is split almost evenly between visual and kinesthetic! So here’s what I (we) have settled on thus far in the next school year:
Bible – Daily devotions and I’d like to add in some Hebrew studies. I want us all to have a better understanding of the Torah and Hebrew meanings.
History – We’ve done lots of American/Colonial studies, so we’re going to do some US Government and Ancient Egypt studies, if we have time left we’ll move on to Ancient Greece or Rome.
Foreign Language – Latin and continually working on Sign Language.
English – Kelsey exceeds high school level for English, so we’re going to focus more on her Writing and Research skills more than anything else.
Vocabulary is a must and she loves it too!
Math – Last year we did Business Math and Kelsey did well with it. This year I’m going to try Teaching Textbooks for her Math.
Science – Biology without dissection since she did dissection last year. We’ll also be doing some Botany.
That’s about it! We won’t do everything every day, except Bible, most things are done at least three times a week, some are one time a week.
Have a blessed day!
